Canoe Building Vacations
A Fourteen day course gives you the skills and know-how to build your own bark canoe while camping on a private lake in the gorgeous Gatineau hills.

Course Information
We will build one 16' Abenaki styled canoe over the course of two relaxed and hopefully sun drenched weeks. In that time, all areas of birchbark canoe building will be covered, and participants will leave with enough skill and know how to build their own bark canoe. Classes will be small, with a maximum of eight students. A lottery will be held to give those who wish to buy the canoe (for an extra $1000 US) a chance to take home the finished craft.
Cost
Cost of the course is $1200 US per individual, $1800 for two people (family).
Price includes Instruction and practice in all aspects of bark canoe building, including:
- Gathering bark and roots
- Choosing cedar for ribs, planking and thwarts
